Cashews
Cashews

Cashews come from cashew trees (Anacardium occidentale) which are native to South America. Cashew trees bloom with delicate flowers that develop into cashew apples. Each apple produces a single cashew nut—growing at the bottom of the fruit. Farmers handpick the ripe cashew apples during harvest season. The nut, encased in a hard shell, is separated from the apple.

Cashew nuts are sun-dried to reduce moisture and make shelling easier—often done on large drying mats in the open air. The hard outer shells contain caustic oils and must be removed carefully by trained workers using traditional tools. Each seed is opened by hand and extracted one by one.

Since each fruit only produces one cashew, and each cashew has to be extracted by hand, the farming process becomes quite laborious and time consuming -- but it is worth it for the tasty end result!

Once the cashews are opened, cleaned and graded, they raw cashews arrive to our kitchen for the roasting and flavoring process (our favorite!). We use simple and fresh ingredients and my Grandma's secret recipe to create our flavors.

We do not work with any distributors or middle men, we bring the cashews direct from the farm to you. We hope you enjoy Nuts + Nuts as much as my sister and I did growing up and and still do to this day!

Almonds
Almonds
Did you know that almonds are technically not a nut, but a seed? The fruit (called a drupe) is related to stone fruits and each holds a single seed - an almond!

The growing process begins when almond trees blossom in the spring. Bees play a crucial role in pollinating the flowers in order for the fruit to form. The blossoms then turn into fruits throughout the summer season.

Once the fruits are ready for harvest, farmers use special tools to "shake" the fruits onto the ground, where they are left to dry before being processed. Each fruit contains one single almond.

We are proud to partner with Treehouse Almonds, California's leader in sustainable, fair, and bee-friendly almond farming.
